Troops kill 14 Boko Haram insurgents, rescue 30 civilians in Borno

The Nigerian Army on Tuesday said it’s troops had killed 14 Boko Haram insurgents in clearance operations in Bama Local Government Area of Borno.

Brig.- Gen. Sani Kukasheka, Director Army Public Relations, said this in a statement issued in Maiduguri.

Buhari meets Governors today

President Muhammadu Buhari will today meet with a delegation of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF).
The meeting, scheduled for 2:00pm, will hold at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The chairman of NGF, Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State, is leading the delegation.
The agenda of the meeting is not yet known.

‘Give incompetent teachers 12months grace to upgrade’ Kaduna

The Mainan Zazzau Communication Committee has called on Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state to toll the path of sanity and pragmatism on the issue of teachers’ sack.

They urged  him to give the ‘incompetent’ teachers a grace period of six to 12months to go back to relevant institutions to update their knowledge and skills; rather than outrightly sacking them.



FG recruits 2190 tax officers, says Adeosun

The Federal Government has recruited and trained 2,190 Community Tax Liaison Officers (CTLOs) under the Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS), says the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun.

Adeosun, in a statement by her Special Adviser, Media and Communications, Mr Oluyinka Akintunde, said that 1,710 CTLOs had already been deployed to 33 states, out of the number recruited and trained.




NNPC to select core investor for Benue bio-fuel project — Baru

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says it has almost concluded discussion on the choice of a core investor for the proposed bio-fuel plant in Benue.

The Group Managing Director of the corporation, Dr Maikanti Baru, said this in a statement issued by Mr Ndu Ughamadu, NNPC Group General Manager Public Affairs Division in Abuja on Sunday.


Computer villages groan as online shops snatch sales

Business at major computer villages is no longer boisterous as increase in online trade is taking the large cut from N1.5 billion daily devices sale revenue from their grip.

Some officials of the market in Lagos who spoke with Daily Trust said though traders from different parts of the country and from parts of West Africa still visited and transacted business in the Otigba Computer Village in Lagos, the frequency had since reduced due to patronage of online shops.



Atiku meets North East PDP leaders ahead of defection

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar at the weekend met with Adamawa PDP executives at all levels, as well as state chairmen from the six states that constitute the North East, including the National Vice Chairman (North East) of the party.
